Stacking the Shelves (1)

It’s been a while since I’ve done a book haul, and it’s because I didn’t get any books in the month of July. However, I got quiet a few books in the last two weeks, so I’ve decided to do one this week. Without further ado, here are the books I got. 

For Review:

Burn For Burn by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian - I've already read this one and LOVED it! 

Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Blake - I've the first book on my shelf, but I've not read it yet. I'm planning to read both books straight through. 

Saving June by Hannah Harrington - I loved Hannah's new upcoming book Speechless, so I'm really excited to read her debut novel. 

Purchased:

Daughter of Smoke and Bones by Laini Taylor - I've been wanting to read this book, and i'm planning to read it before the second book comes out. 

Seraphina by Rachel Hartman - My sister bought this book, and i don't even know what's it about. 

Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson - I adored Morgan's debut novel, Amy and Roger's Epic Detour. Can't wait to read this one! I have high hopes. 

Perfect Escape by Jennifer Brown - This one has been getting great reviews, so i'm looking forward to checking it out. 

A Million Suns by Beth Revis - i loved the first book, Across the Universe. I'm excited to continue with this series. 

The Host by Stephenie Meyer - I bought this book just because i want to read it before the movie comes out in 2013.

She leaves behind her friends, a group of freaks and geeks called the Leftovers, including her emo-rocker boyfriend, and her father. By the time Labor Day rolls around, Marcie suspects this "vacation" has become permanent. She starts at a new school where a cute boy brings her breakfast and a new romance heats up.

But understanding love, especially when you've watched your parents' affections end, is elusive. What does it feel like, really? Can you even know it until you've lost it?

I love reading books written in verses, so when I found out that Love and Leftovers is written in verse, I was eager to get my hands on a copy. And it didn’t disappoint. Love and Leftovers was a short, fun, and entertaining summer read. I read it in less than a day.

Our main character, Marcie, is just simply adorable. I loved everything about her. She’s funny and thoughtful. I really liked Marcie’s voice in this book. It was fun going through the journey with her. What I loved most about this book is the ending. I didn't expect it to end like the way it ended, which I really enjoyed. I don’t like predictable ending in books.

Overall, I enjoyed this book, and recommend it to every contemporary fan. Sarah Tregay’s debut is fantastic. She did an amazing job with the main character and her voice. I truly enjoyed this fun read, and I’m looking forward to checking out Sarah’s future work.

July Wrap-Up

July was not a good month for me. I was in a reading slump for half of the month, and didn’t read much. I only read 6 books, but I’m really happy to say I loved every single one of the books I read, which makes up for my reading slump. Anyway, here are the six books I read in July.
